Southern Bowling Goes 3-2 on Day One of the Southern Queens Tournament

BATON ROUGE, La – Southern Bowling opened the 2024-25 season in its first outing of the season today at the Southern Queens tournament in Baton Rouge. The Jaguars ended the first day ranked fifth in the tournament after playing in five matches, having won three and losing two.
 
The Jaguars opened the tournament against Grambling State and beat the Tigers 848-734. 
 
Next, SU took on Tulane University and lost 869-801. The Jaguars won games one and three 206-192 and 178-165, but fell in the second 147-146, fourth 189-130 and fifth game 176-141.
 
In match three the Jaguars fell to Texas Southern. 
 
In a rematch of the 2024 SWAC Tournament Championship, SU defeated Alabama State 869-858.
 
Closing out the day, the Jaguars defeated Morgan State in match five.
 
Tomorrow, the Jaguars will start at 9:30 a.m. and play against Jackson State, University of Alabama at Birmingham and Sam Houston State.
