Bowling Places Second at SWAC West Round-Up

D'IBERVILLE | Southern opened the 2025 season finishing the SWAC West Round-up in second place.

Jailyn Rogers finished with an average of 206.86 in 14 matches putting her in (3^rd) finishing with a total of 2.896 pins. Kelsey Quinney is in (6^th) averaging 199.64 and total 2,795 pins. Nyla Wilson is in (9^th) with an average 193.50 and total of 2,709 pins. Naomi Smith knocked down 2,673 total pins, average of 190.93 for (10^th).

Southern (37-28, 10,4) dropped the opening match in a close battle (959-954) to Alabama State. Then went on to win three straight matches with wins over Alabama A&M (990-839), Prairie View (955-919) and Grambling State (1004-759).

The victory over Grambling State gave Southern their 50^th consecutive victory over the Tigers, since 2013. The Jaguars finished out day one with another tough loss to Jackson State (1021-953).

The Jaguars opened day two with a dominate performance in the first match to defeat Florida A&M (937-744). They went on to win the next two matches defeating Texas Southern (945-921) and Alabama State (933-856). They battled in the next match but fell to Alabama A&M (963-935). In the last match of the day, SU put another impressive performance defeating Prairie View (1040-943).

The final day picked up where Day 2 ended as Southern won its first match to Grambling State (988-755), before dropping the next match to Jackson State (1021-958). Next the Jaguars dominated Florida A&M (980-646). In their last match of the weekend the Jaguars defeated Texas Southern (1065-952).
