BATON ROUGE, LA -- The Southern University Men's Basketball team announces the 2022-23 schedule. Including 13 non-conference games within the months of November and December before heading into Southwestern Athletic Conference play in January.

The Jaguars first game this fall will be a home exhibition game as they face Tougaloo College (Nov. 3). After the opening contest, Southern will travel to University of Nevada Las Vegas on (Nov. 7) to tip off the non conference schedule before continuing the road trip on (Nov. 11) playing at the University of Arizona. The Jags will continue there west coast swing when they face Saint Mary's College (Nov. 16) and the University of California (Nov. 18).

They will next head to Niceville, FL for a match-up against Loyola Maryland on (Nov. 25) and will either face ULM or Nebraska Omaha on (Nov. 26) to finish out the Emerald Coast Classic. SU will host Champion Christian College on (Nov. 28).

Southern starts the month of December on the road, traveling to Louisiana Tech on (Dec. 2) before hosting LSU-Alexandria on (Dec.10). The Jags will have a two-game road stretch in Ohio as they play (Dec. 13) at Xavier University and (Dec. 16) at Youngstown State University. Before traveling to Alabama to play the University of Alabama at Birmingham on (Dec. 18). The final non-conference matchup has the Jaguars visiting Southeastern Louisiana University on (Dec 21).

"Our pre-nonconference schedule poses a great and challenging schedule for us this year. Our first four games are all on the west cost starting with UNLV, Arizona, Saint Mary's and Cal. All are top level programs that should be really good challenges for us, said Sean Woods, Head Men's Basketball Coach. Along with the other teams that we face, we should learn a lot about ourselves and have us competing at the highest level going into SWAC play!"

SU returns from Christmas break opening up Southwestern Athletic Conference play with a difficult early conference road swing visiting Texas Southern (Jan. 2) and next Prairie View (Jan.4). Southern then will travel back home for a three-game home stand with matchups against Florida A&M (Jan.7) Bethune Cookman (Jan. 9) and Grambling State (Jan. 14).

The Jags will be back on the road competing against Arkansas Pine Bluff on (Jan. 21) and Mississippi Valley State on (Jan. 23) before heading back to the friendly confines of the F.G. Clark Activity Center where they will have a two-game home stretch against Alcorn State (Jan. 28) and Jackson State (Jan. 30) to end the month of January.
 
Southern will then travel to Alabama A&M on (Feb. 4) and Alabama State on (Feb. 6).

The second half of the SWAC conference schedule starts off with the Jaguars hosting Prairie View (Feb.11) and Texas Southern (Feb.13) before heading away for a three-game road stretch against Grambling State (Feb. 18), Bethune Cookman (Feb. 25) and Florida A&M (Feb. 27).

To conclude the SWAC regular season, Southern will host the final two home games against Alabama State (March 2) and Alabama A&M (March 4).

The 2023 Cricket Wireless SWAC Basketball Tournament will be hosted in Birmingham, AL at Bartow Arena on the campus of UAB from (March 8 - March 11).
