Jaguars Pull Away Late In Win Over Prairie View A&M

BATON ROUGE, La. — Southern University men's basketball delivered another strong conference performance Saturday night inside the William J. Nicks Building, using a late second-half surge to earn an 87-82 victory over Prairie View A&M.

Southern (12–13, 8–4 SWAC) controlled the glass and set the tone physically from the opening tip, trailing by two at halftime, before breaking the game open with a decisive run midway through the second half.

Terrance Dixon Jr. led the charge with 24 points and 11 rebounds recording his second double-double of the season and career high in points. He anchored the Jaguars inside and consistently created second-chance opportunities to help win the interior battle.

Cam Amboree came off the bench to add 16 points. Michael Jacobs added 15 points and three steals while converting key free throws late in the game to help seal the victory.

Malek Abdelgowad chipped in 11 points.

After Prairie View cut the deficit to single digits late, Southern responded with timely stops and efficient free-throw shooting to close out the contest and earn the victory on the road.
