BATON ROUGE, LA -- The Southern University men's basketball team announce their complete 2021-2022 season schedule. Including 13 non-conference games within the months of November and December before heading into Southwestern Athletic Conference play in January.
The Jags first game this fall will be up north as they face University of Louisville on the road November 9
th kicking off the month of November in which they will have a total of five road games out of the seven. After the opening contest, Southern will travel back south to Tulane University on November 13
th before continuing the road trip on November 16
th playing Rice University, South Carolina (Nov. 19) and the University of Nebraska (Nov.21). The Jags will return home for a match- up against Ecclesia College on November 23
rd before ending the month of November on the 28
th in Nashville as they face Tennessee State.
Southern starts the month of December on the road, traveling to Ohio to face Akron on December 4th before heading to face the University of Kentucky on December 7
th. They then will have a 2-game home stretch on December 9
th and 11
th against Lindsey Wilson College and Southeastern. The Jags will end the non-conference schedule on the road in Ohio to play Kent State on December 19
th and University of Dayton on December 21st.
Conference play will begin at home this season with back-to-back games held in the F.G. Clark Activity Center. First against Texas Southern (Jan. 3
rd) and next Prairie View (Jan.5
th) before traveling to Florida for matchups against the newly added conference members. Florida A&M will be hosting the Jags on January 8
th while Bethune-Cookman will host them January 10
th.
The Jags come back to Louisiana for a 3 game in state stretch starting with a contest against Grambling State on January 15
th before heading back to Baton Rouge for another 2-game home stretch against Pine Bluff (Jan.22
nd) and Mississippi Valley (Jan.24
th). Alcorn State and Jackson State will be the Jags next opponents as they face off on January 29
th and 31
st to end the month of January.
Back at home after a five-day break, Alabama A&M will travel to Baton Rouge on February 5
thfollowed by Alabama State on February 7
th.
The second half of the SWAC conference schedule for the Jags is opened at Texas Southern (Feb. 14
th) before coming back home for a 3-game stretch against Grambling (Feb. 19
th), Bethune Cookman (Feb. 26
th) and Florida A&M (Feb. 28
th)
To conclude the season, Jaguars will travel to Alabama to play Alabama State (Mar. 3
rd) and Alabama A&M (Mar. 5
th).
SWAC Athletic Conference Basketball Tournament will be hosted in Birmingham, AL at Bartow Arena on the campus UAB from March 8
th- March 12
th.
