FLOWOOD, Miss. – The Southern University Jaguar Bowling team is trying to find their groove again at the Sonic Boom Invitational hosted by Jackson State University at Fannin Lanes in Flowood, Miss. November 12-14.
 
The Lady Jaguars struggled at the Track Kat Klash this past weekend finishing 12^th out of 16 teams. The field had 10 ranked teams and SU had seven out of their 13 matches against those teams.
 
Southern was able to find consistency on Sunday and saw them move up two spots in the standings. SU was able to upset Valparaiso, who received votes in the rankings, before losing to No. 22 Prairie View A&M in the final match.
 
"We had a strong finish on Sunday, which was very encouraging, and I used it as motivation going into this weekend" Coach Barry Doyle said about the finish last week.
 
The team will look to continue that momentum this weekend as they face another set of tough competition. Headlining the tournament is a pair of top 25 teams in No. 9 Louisiana Tech and No. 16 Tulane University. Other teams participating are , Alabama State, Florida A&M, Grambling, Texas Southern, and host Jackson State.
 
The Lady Jaguars will have to make shots consistently and pick up easy spares if they want to take the championship. "Shot making and spare shooting has to improve. We had two good practices this week and focused on what we needed to improve" said Coach Doyle.
 
This will be the third of four straight weekends the Lady Jaguars compete in the fall semester. The schedule for the Sonic Boom Classic is just like the previous two tournaments. Friday will see five sets of five game Baker matches. Saturday will have five sets of traditional team games. Bracket Sunday will include three best of seven Baker matches. Total pinfall from Friday and Saturday will determine the seeding for Sundays matches.
