BATON ROUGE, La. — Southern volleyball opens action in Southwestern Athletic Conference play when the Lady Jaguars face Arkansas-Pine Bluff at the H.W. Moody Intramural Sports Complex on Friday at 6 p.m.
 
Southern enters conference play after earning its first home victory of the season, defeating Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 3-0, Tuesday at the H.W. Moody Intramural Sports Complex.
 
Sereniti Johnson led the way with her second double-double of the season, recording 10 kills and 12 digs. Paulina Agudelo Marin added seven kills, while Mariah Mott and Alayah Wilson contributed five kills apiece. Maleah Faust directed the Southern offense with 26 assists.
 
Defensively, Johnson and Najah Harris recorded 12 digs each, while Reagan Robinson added nine. Agudelo Marin also made an impact at the net with four blocks.
 
The Lady Jaguars also received a strong performance from Penina Vito, who was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference Setter of the Week after leading the league in assists for the week. Vito totaled 105 assists, ranking 50th nationally, while her 8.08 assists per set also led the conference.
 
Vito opened the week with 16 assists over two sets against SUNO before recording 35 assists and seven digs against Jacksonville State at the Crimson Classic. Later that day, she posted her first double-double of the season with 40 assists and 11 digs against Nicholls. Vito closed out the weekend with 14 assists against Alabama.
 
On the defensive side, Harris continues to rank among the nation's top defensive players. The senior currently ranks 11th in the NCAA in digs per set and 27th in total digs. She has recorded double-digit digs in 11 of Southern's 12 matches this season.
 
Johnson and Mott continue to pace the Lady Jaguars offensively. Johnson is averaging 2.66 kills per set, while Mott is averaging 2.54. Vito and Faust have shared setting duties, with Vito averaging 5.91 assists per set and Faust 5.46. Vito ranks fourth in the SWAC in assists per set, while Faust ranks sixth.
