BATON ROUGE, La. – Southern University baseball wrapped up its first organized team practice of the fall on Wednesday at Lee-Hines Stadium, officially ushering in preparations for the 2026 season.
The opening session featured a wide range of individual drills and team situations, with an emphasis on fundamentals and detailed instruction from the coaching staff as the Jaguars set the foundation for the months ahead.
"I'm excited to be back out here," said head coach Chris Crenshaw. "The guys look like they're in a really good place right now. We'll learn a lot as we go, but the work they put in during the offseason is already showing, and we're ready to get started."
Southern will return to the field on Wednesday for another team practice, scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. CT. All Southern baseball practices are open to the public at no charge. Gates at Lee-Hines Stadium will open approximately 30 minutes prior to the start of practice, and fans are asked to enter through the main gate located directly behind home plate. Once inside, spectators should remain in the main seating area.
