BATON ROUGE, LA — Southern University second baseman KJ White Jr. has earned an invitation to the 2026 Major League Baseball Draft Combine, becoming one of 335 prospects selected to participate in the prestigious pre-draft event.
White's invitation comes after a standout senior campaign in which he emerged as one of the top players in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. He finished the season with a .421 batting average, collecting 80 hits while driving in 33 runs and stealing 32 bases.
His performance earned him SWAC Hitter of the Year honors and First Team All-SWAC recognition. White also was named a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy, awarded annually to the nation's top collegiate baseball player.
The invitation marks another milestone for Southern's baseball program under head coach Chris Crenshaw. White becomes the second Jaguar to receive an MLB Draft Combine invitation during Crenshaw's tenure, following Cardell Thibodeaux Jr., who participated in the 2025 event.
The 2026 MLB Draft Combine is scheduled for June 23-26 at Chase Field in Phoenix and will feature on-field workouts, medical evaluations, and interviews with representatives from all 30 Major League Baseball clubs. Coverage of the event will air on MLB Network.
The 2026 MLB Draft will take place July 11-12 in Philadelphia.
White's selection to the combine provides increased exposure to professional scouts and front-office personnel as he prepares for the next step in his baseball career. The invitation also serves as further recognition of Southern University's growing presence on the national baseball stage.
