Four Athletes Qualify for NCAA Track and Field East Regional

BATON ROUGE, La. | The Southern University's track and field team will send four athletes to East Regional in Lexington, Kentucky from May 22-25, at the Jim Green Track and Field Center, hosted by the University of Kentucky.

This will be the second most athletes the Jaguars and Lady Jaguars have sent to the regional since the NCAA changed the format in 2008. This will also mark the second time since 2012 that a Lady Jaguar qualified.

On the women's side Camille Lewis qualified in the 400m hurdles with a time of 59.19 from the SWAC Championship. The women's 400m hurdles will take place Thursday night at 8:20 pm.

Kevon Hamilton secured his spot in the East Regional with his 4^th place finished at the 96^th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays triple jump distance of 50 feet 4.75 inches. The Junior out of Scotlandville High School has five other jumps over 49 feet on the year.

Just like Hamilton, Reginald King secured his spot in the East Regional with his 2^nd place finish at the Bobcat Invitational with a triple jump distance of 50 feet 2.5 inches.

In the high jump, Roman Smith, who is 17^th nationally, finished 2^nd in the conference championship with a personal-best jump of 2.18m or seven feet 1.75 inches.

Fans will have the opportunity to watch all four days of action on ESPN+. The final 12 in each event will advance to the NCAA Division I Track & Field Championships June 5-8 at the Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. This will mark the 15^th time the outdoor championships have been held in Oregon and the first since 2022.
