Jaguars Earn No. 4 Seed for SWAC Tennis Tournament

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Southern University women's tennis team will enter the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Women's Tennis Tournament as the No. 4 seed as the Jaguars will open play against the No. 6 seed, Alabama A&M, on Friday, April 19 at 9:00 am in the quarterfinals at the City Park Tennis Center in New Orleans, La.
 
Southern and Alabama A&M met on Feb. 16 at the SWAC Roundup in Montgomery, with the Jaguars picking up a 4-1 victory.
 
Florida A&M and Alabama State drew the top two seeds and received a first-round bye as the two advanced to the semifinals on April 20. 
 
The winner of the Alabama A&M/Southern match will face top seed Florida A&M on Saturday, April 20. 
 
On the bottom side of the bracket, No. 3 Jackson State will meet No. 5 Prairie View A&M in the other quarterfinal match, with the winner facing No. 2 seed Alabama State on April 20.
 
The SWAC Women's Tennis Tournament championship match is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Sunday, April 21 from the City Park Tennis Center.
