HOUSTON, TX. – Southern University men's and women's indoor track and field traveled I-10 West to Houston, TX for the FasTrak Athletix Collegiate Challenge where 19 athletes had personal best in their respective events. The Jaguars came away with five first place finishes along with twelve top ten finishes on the day.
Things got started early with field events where
Camille Lewis (women high jump) and Roman Smith (men high jump) finished first overall in their respective events.
Later that afternoon the running events got kicked off where the Jaguars had two more first place finishes by
Trinity Bolden (women's 60m) and Clydeterrious Thompson, Jordan Thompson, DeAnthony Nervis and Marciano Taylor (men 400m Relay).
WOMEN'S TRACK EVENTS
- Bolden wins the women's 60m with a time of 7.55 seconds and fourth in the 200m with a time of 25.28 seconds
- Shani Simon recorded her personal best in the 400m 57.97 and finished 3rd overall
- Jada Chevalier recorded her personal best in the 60m (8.05) and finished 2nd overall
- Aisha Johnson recorded her personal best in the 200m (25.64) finish 5th and finish 4th in 60m with a time of 7.78 seconds
WOMEN'S FIELD EVENTS
- Lewis wins the women's high jump and High Jump event winner 1.60m (5'3")
- Jae'l Dunn recorded her personal best in the women's weight throw 15.27m (50-01.25) and finish 4th overall
- Sahnya Lathon recorded her personal best in the women's triple Jump 11.55m (37-10.75) and finished 4th overall
- Azariah Foster recorded her personal best in the women's triple jump 11.52m (37'9.50") and finished sixth overall

- Smith wins the men high jump with a jump of 2.10m ( 6'10.75") and records his personal best with that jump
- Mehki Smith recorded his personal best in the men's shot put with a throw of 14.38m (47'2.50") and finished fifth overall
- Reginald King recorded his personal best in the men's triple jump with a jump of 14.45m (47'5")
- Koi Wedderburn recorded his personal best in the men's long jump with a jump of 7.25m (23'9")
- Mehki Smith recorded his personal best in the men's shot put with a throw of 13.80m (45'3.25")
- Haywood Gallien recorded hos personal best in the men's weight throw with a throw of 13.99m (42'8")

Southern will be back in action in Birmingham, AL for the SWAC Indoor Championship at the Birmingham CrossPlex on Saturday, February 17th and Sunday, February 18th.
