ATLANTA, GA – For the third straight year Southern University baseball players was selected to participate at a high level in the Minority Baseball Prospects HBCU All-Star Game. Minority Baseball Prospects is excited to announce our 2023 HBCU All-Star Game at Coolray Field home of the Triple-A Braves affiliate, Gwinnett Stripers on June 3rd at 7 Pm ET.

 Senior center fielder Jaylen Armstrong,  senior pitcher Enrique Ozoa (second year),  junior pitcher Nicholas Wilson, senior pitcher Jalon Long, senior first baseman O'Neill Burgos, senior short stop Justin Wiley and senior catcher Gustavo Nava Sanchez was named to the HBCU All-Star team. 

Wiley, Armstrong and Ozoa will be playing on Team Andre Dawson, while Burgos, Nava Sanchez, Long and Wilson will be playing on Team Ralph Garr. Burgos will compete in the Home Run Derby at 6 PM ET . 

"These guys getting selected to this all star game shows that there hard work is being rewarded. They earned everything they are getting and I'm proud of these guys,  said Chris Crenshaw, Southern Head Coach.

In January of 2021 The Atlanta Braves established The Henry Louis Aaron Fund, under the banner of the Atlanta Braves Foundation, after Henry's passing. 

The fund was created to continue to support Henry Aaron's life-long passion to increase minority participation in baseball on the field, in baseball's business operations, in careers at minor and major league level, and in the front offices of Clubs across Major League Baseball
