Chris Crenshaw

Chris Crenshaw serves as the 7th Head Coach in Southern University baseball history, officially taking the helm on June 18, 2021.

Crenshaw enters his sixth season leading the Jaguars, his 13th season coaching at the Division I level, and his 15th overall season in collegiate coaching. He was instrumental in guiding Southern to a 2019 SWAC Western Division Championship and the 2019 SWAC Tournament Championship, earning the Jaguars a spot in the NCAA Starkville Regional.

As Head Coach, he led the Jaguars to another 2022 SWAC Western Division title and the 2021 SWAC Tournament Championship, securing an additional NCAA postseason appearance in the Austin Regional. Coach Crenshaw was also named as a 2024 USA Baseball National Collegiate Team Coaching staff. 

Before returning to Southern, Coach Crenshaw spent five seasons at Jackson State University and two seasons at Southwest Tennessee Community College, both as an Assistant Coach. At JSU, he served as Recruiting Coordinator and Pitching Coach, helping the Tigers to a highly successful run.

A Memphis, TN native, Crenshaw played collegiately at Southwest Tennessee Community College before transferring to Southern University, where he played under legendary Head Coach Roger Cador. He later completed his collegiate playing career at Bethel University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education in 2013. Baseball runs deep in the Crenshaw family, as his father, Gregory Crenshaw, also played at Southern University continuing a proud Jaguar legacy.
