Lady Jaguars Finish Second, Jaguars Place Fourth, Four Claim Titles at SWAC Outdoor Championship

PRAIRIE VIEW, TX – The Lady Jaguars finished the outdoor season as runners-up at the Southwestern Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships at the PVAMU Track & Field Stadium on Saturday night.
 
The Jaguars finished fourth with 85 points and the Lady Jaguars finished second with 105.33 points.
 
Four different Southern athletes picked up conference victories.
 
Char'Vares Wilson scored the first point of the day for the Jaguars in the discus. Wilson finished with a personal best throw of 143 feet 4 inches to finish eighth.
 
The Lady Jaguars continued their hold on second with 14 more points in the shot put. Logan Lewis added her 19th point of the weekend with a second-place finish with a new personal best of 47 feet 5.75 inches. A'ja Gore finished third with her personal best throw of 46 feet 0.75 inches.
 
The Jaguars picked up their first win on the day when Kevon Hamilton jumped 50 feet 3.25 inches in the triple jump. Demarion Sowell finished eighth with a personal best of 47 feet 5.25 inches. Azariah Foster picked up four more points for the Lady Jaguars with a fifth-place finish with a distance of 39 feet 0.5 inches.
 
The running events started with the 4x10 where the team of A'niya Galloway, Trinity Bolden, Trinity Kirk and Malaysia Sinegal finished with a season best time of 46.87 to finish fourth. The men's team of Derick Washington, Clydeterrious Thompson, Jordan Thompson and DeAnthony Nervis finished fifth with a time of 40.87.
 
Daisa McKissic finished sixth in the 100m hurdles final with a personal best time of 14.01. Jordan Thompson picked up a second win for the Jaguars in the 100m hurdles with a personal best time of 13.89.
 
In the 100m, Bolden set a new personal best with a time of 11.56 to finish second. Clydeterrious Thompson finished sixth with a time of 10.55 for the men.
 
Nicholas Scott picked up his fourth SWAC title in the 800. After picking up back-to-back in the indoor season, Scott completed the sweep for the second year in a row with a time of 1:50.97, 1.5 seconds faster than second. Rushane Miller finished fourth with a time of 1:53.37.
 
CCamille Lewis captured the title in the 400m hurdles with a new personal best of 58.68. Sierra Session finished sixth with a personal best time of 1:02.06. Jordan Thompson came up just short of his second title with a second-place finish on the men's side with a personal best time of 51.82.
 
Lafayette Collins added another point for the Jaguars in the 5000m run. Collins finished eighth with a time of 16:55.5.
 
The Lady Jaguars secured a second-place finish in the meet with a third-place finish in the 4x400. The team of Shani Simon, Session, Kirk and Camille Lewis finished with a season best time of 3:46.10. The team of Jordan Thompson, Clydeterrious Thompson, Scott and Nervis finished out the meet with a third-place finish with a time of 3:12.24.

UP NEXT
The team will wait to see the final results from all the conference meets to see who will qualify for the NCAA East Regional in Jacksonville, Florida starting on May 24.
