Southern Announces 2022 Volleyball Schedule

BATON ROUGE, LA— Eight home matches in Clifford Seymour Gymnasium highlight the 2022 Southern University volleyball schedule, which was announced by head coach Venessa Jacobs on Monday.

The Jaguar's open the season with four tournaments beginning in Memphis, Tennessee on August 26-27. SU will then travel to Thibodaux, Louisiana for a round of matches against Nicholls (Sept. 2), Southern Illinois (Sept. 2) and UCSD (Sept. 3). The next two tournaments will be in New Orleans, Louisiana then onto Hammond, Louisiana before beginning league play.
 
Conference play begins on September 25th as the Jaguar's play host to UAPB to begin a three-game home stand. The next two home games will be against Grambling State (Sept. 26) and Alcorn State (Oct. 6). 
 
On October 9-10 the Jaguar's will compete in the SWAC Cluster hosted by Alabama State, with matches against Jackson State and Bethune-Cookman. Southern will then welcome the two Texas schools into Seymour Gymnasium on October 16-17. Another quick road trip to Arkansas – Pine Bluff (Oct.23) and Grambling State (Oct. 24) before returning to Seymour for a four team SWAC Cluster hosted by the Jaguar's.
 
The Jaguar's closeout the regular season with three road games against Alcorn State (Nov. 3), Prairie View A&M (Nov. 13) and Texas Southern (Nov. 14). 
 
The winner of the SWAC's regular season title will receive the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, which is slated to begin on December 1 at sites yet to be announced.
