Box Score MADISON, AL. -- The Jaguars bats came alive on day three of the 2021 Southwestern Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament Friday afternoon at Toyota Field in Madison, Alabama as Southern defeated Alcorn State 10-5 in the quarterfinals elimination game.
Senior
Wilhelm Allen got the start for the Jaguars. He pitched four innings . Senior
Jacob Snyder kept Alcorn State (7-20) off balance most of the game, allowing only four hits and recorded six strikeouts.
Southern (17-28) scored 10 runs on 12 hits.
The Jaguars got on the board in the second inning.
Zavier Moore RBI double up the middle scored two runners as the Jaguars took the early 2-0 lead.
Isaiah Adams RBI single up the middle scored another SU runner as the Jaguars extended their lead 3-0.
Alcorn State added two runs in the top of the third.
Southern added two runs in the bottom of the third on an RBI single to left field by
Colton Frank extending the lead to 4-2 and
Zavier Moore RBI single in the infield, making it 5-2.
ASU added two runs in the top of the fourth.
SU answered scoring one run in the bottom of the fourth, making it 6-4.
Colton Frank two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh extended the Jaguars lead to 8-4.
The Jaguars added another run as
Tremaine Spears RBI single brings in a SU runner, as the Jags lead 9-4.
In the bottom of the eighth
Colton Frank Sac fly to left center brings in another runner as Southern wins 10-4. Frank had four RBI's on the afternoon.
