Track and Field Announces 2022 Schedule

Baton Rouge, La. - Head Coach Teremine White is excited to announce the release of the 2021-2022 Southern University Track and Field schedule. The Jaguars have 15 meets scheduled with five of them being in the state of Louisiana.

"The coaching staff is excited to see what the 2022 Track & Field season will bring," Coach White said about the upcoming season. "Our team has been working hard over the offseason. We have an experienced team with some additional key newcomers. We are looking forward to seeing this team having great performances all season."

The Jaguars start the indoor season on January 14 when they travel to College Station, Texas for the Ted Nelson Invitational hosted by national power Texas A&M. SU will not have any breaks as they will have three consecutive meets before the Southwestern Athletic Conference Indoor Championships on February 17-18 in Birmingham, AL.

Those three meets include the Samford Invite on January 20-21 in Birmingham, AL, Houston G5 & Super 22 Invitational on January 28-29 in Houston, and finally the Bayou Bengal on February 4 in Baton Rouge hosted by LSU. The final meet of the indoor season will be the NCAA championships held March 11 and 12 in what would be the third trip to Birmingham.

The outdoor season will kick off the same weekend as the indoor championships. Those that do not qualify for the NCAA championships will travel to Lake Charles, LA for a meet hosted by McNeese State University.

Just like the indoor season, the outdoor will see Southern participate in five straight weekends of meets. The weekend of March 18 and 19 will see the Jaguars travel to Lafayette for the Louisiana Classic hosted by the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

The following weekend will see the Jaguars participate in two different meets. Both meets will be held in Texas, and one will be the famous Texas Relays hosted by the University of Texas in Austin. The other meet will be the Texas State Invitational hosted by Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas.

The final three meets before the SWAC championships will see the Jaguars return to LSU for the Battle on the Bayou on April 2, Joe Walker Invite on April 9 hosted by Ole Miss in Oxford, MISS, and the Leon Johnson NSU Invitational hosted by Northwestern State on April 23 in Natchitoches, LA.

Southern will wrap up their season with the postseason meets, SWAC Championships, NCAA Regional, and NCAA Outdoor Championships. The SWAC Championships will be held in Prairie View, Texas on May 5-7. The NCAA Regional will be on May 26-28 in Bloomington, IN. Qualifiers for the NCAA Championships will travel to Eugene, OR on June 8-11.
