MOBILE, Ala. — The Southern University track and field program turned in a solid all-around performance Friday at the South Alabama Jaguar Invitational.
 
Sophomore Marcus Delcy led the way for the Jaguars, claiming the men's 800 meters title with a winning time of 1:53.53. His performance marked Southern's lone victory of the meet and set the tone for the day.
 
In the sprints, junior Kaden Lewis turned in a fourth-place finish in the men's 100 meters, clocking 10.55. On the women's side, Rondisa Williams added a runner-up finish in the 100 meters with a time of 11.73.
 
Freshman Keeton Johnson highlighted the distance group with a third-place finish in the men's 1500 meters, crossing in a season-best 4:06.72. He also competed in the 400 meters, placing seventh (49.71).
 
In the hurdles, freshman Larry Paul III recorded a personal-best 56.16 to finish sixth in the men's 400-meter hurdles, while sophomore Aniyah Glover placed fourth in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:09.19.
 
Southern's throwers made a strong impact, led by junior Ariyonna Edmond, who placed second in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 51.31 meters and added a seventh-place finish in the shot put. Freshman Ayanna Hunt finished fifth in the discus (44.75m), while Layla Spann-McDonald recorded top-eight finishes in both the discus and hammer throw.
 
On the men's side, Michael Fulton posted a pair of top-eight finishes, placing third in the shot put (14.75m) and seventh in the discus. Haywood Gallien also scored top-eight marks in the throws, including an eighth-place finish in the hammer.
 
In the jumps, Kendall Cook added a pair of top-five finishes, taking fourth in the 200 meters (26.33) and fifth in the long jump (5.38m). Mashayla Lazard cleared 1.58 meters to place sixth in the high jump.

Southern will host the Southwestern Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships at A.W. Mumford Stadium on May 10-12.
