ALEXANDRIA, LA - The 2010 SWAC Women's Tennis Championships came to a close on Sunday with the Southern women claiming the tournament title.
The Jaguars overcame Jackson State 4-0 to claim their fifth title in the past eight years and ninth overall. SU got the early edge in the match, securing the doubles point on the #1 and #3 courts.
In singles action, Janelle Mosley nabbed the third point of the match with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the #2 singles slot. Kathryn Curtis secured the 4-0 rout as she registered a 6-1, 7-5 score from the #4 spot.
Curtis, who went 2-0 from her #4 singles position for Southern, was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.
The SWAC women's winner automatically qualify for the NCAA Tennis regional tournament, May 14-16, 2010. Complete results and All-Tournament Honors are below.
