SOUTHERN WOMEN GO UNDEFEATED IN SWAC TENNIS ROUNDUP

JACKSON, MS - The first of three SWAC tennis roundups concluded on Sunday with the Southern women and Prairie View A&M & Arkansas-Pine Bluff men exiting with perfect records.

The Lady Jaguars defeated Alabama State on Sunday to boast an unblemished 5-0 record over the Eastern division competition. They will head into March's West roundup with a two game lead over the rest of the field. Prairie View A&M finished play yesterday and are currently second in the West with a 3-2 record. Grambling State and Arkansas-Pine are tied for third with 2-3 slates.

In the East, Alcorn State and Jackson State each registered wins on Sunday and are currently tied for first at 3-1. With a 2-2 record, Alabama A&M holds on to the third place spot in the East. Alabama State and Mississippi Valley State both leave the roundup without wins.

On the men's side, Arkansas-Pine Bluff recorded a win over Jackson State on Sunday to remain undefeated and currently sit tied for first with Prairie View A&M in the West. Grambling State suffered its first loss of the roundup against Alcorn State on Sunday and is presently third in the West.

With its 4-1 win over Grambling State, Alcorn State picked up the East division's first win of the tournament to sit in first place in the division. The remaining schools in the East went winless through the competition.

The 2010 West Tennis Roundup is set for March 19-20 in Little Rock, AR while the East Tennis Roundup will return to Jackson, MS March 26-28. Only the top three teams in each division qualify for the championship tournament.
