VERO BEACH, FLORIDA -- The Southern Jaguars hit the road this weekend, traveling to Vero Beach to compete in the Andre Dawson Classic, a showcase that brings together several of the nation's top HBCU baseball programs.

Southern is scheduled to play three games over the weekend, opening the classic against Grambling State Tigers on Friday, February 20th at  2 p.m., before taking on Texas Southern Tigers on Saturday at 8 a.m. and Florida A&M Rattlers on Sunday, February 22nd at 11 a.m. The round-robin format will test the Jaguars' depth on the mound and consistency at the plate early in the season.

The Andre Dawson Classic has become a key measuring stick for HBCU programs, offering a competitive, neutral-site environment and national exposure. For Southern, the weekend presents an opportunity to build momentum, evaluate lineups, and gain valuable experience against familiar conference foes and regional rivals.

With three games in as many days, pitching management and timely hitting will be critical as the Jaguars look to make a statement in Vero Beach and return home with confidence heading into the heart of their schedule.
