Ashton Magee Signs to Southern Men’s Basketball

BATON ROUGE, LA. | Ashton Magee, one of the highest-ranked high school players Coach Kevin Johnson has recruited to Southern, has officially signed with the Jaguars as announced on Friday.

"We're really excited to welcome Ashton Magee to our program and to the state of Louisiana," said Coach Johnson. "Ashton is a very talented player! He works hard on his craft! It shows on the floor! We are excited that he chose Southern! This is a great get for the Jaguars! His ceiling is incredible, and he really wants to be here at Southern. I love the fact that he wants to come and compete and that he's eager to get better every single day."

A 6-foot-7 wing from Ellisville, MS, Magee is a consensus three-star prospect. 247Sports ranked Magee as the No. 69 small forward overall and top 3 prospect from the state of Mississippi.

He played his senior high school season at South Jones High, averaging 23.5 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.2 blocks per game. He is ranked as the No. 3 prospect player in the state of Mississippi by all major recruiting services.

Transfers joining the team include: Fazl Oshodi (Southwest Mississippi CC), Rondae Hill (Henderson State), Malek Abdelgowad (UMass), Terrance Dixon, Jr. (Lamar)
