Men's Tennis Opens Season with Loss at LSU

BATON ROUGE | The Southern University men's tennis team began its spring season on Wednesday afternoon as the Jaguars fell to LSU, 7-0, at the LSU Tennis Complex.

The Tigers (1-0) took the doubles point, claiming victories at No. 1 and No. 2.

The team of Lwazi Ngwenya and Gabriel Inyang fell to Julien Penzlin and Charles Hobbs, 6-0, while Sebastien Byng and Mpho Leshoele dropped a 6-1 decision to Enzo De Freitas and Alessio Vasquez as LSU grabbed a 2-0 lead.

In singles play, LSU completed the win by sweeping all five matches.

At No. 1, Ngwenya fell to Lofman, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 2. Byng dropped a 6-1, 6-1 decision. No. 3 Inyang fell to Vasquez 6-0, 6-1. No. 4 Leshoele fell to De Fretas, 6-4, 6-2.

UP NEXT
Southern will travel to New Orleans to take on Tulane, Saturday at City Park. First serve is set for 11:00 a.m.
