Southern Earns No. 6 Seed for SWAC Tennis Tournament

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Southern University men's tennis team will enter the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Men's Tennis Tournament as the No. 6 seed and will face #4 Alcorn State in the quarterfinals as the tournament opens on Friday, April 19 at the City Park Tennis Center in New Orleans, La.
 
Southern (1-14, 1-5)  is in the top half of the bracket and if they advance will No. 1 Alabama State on Saturday, April 20 in the semifinals. The Jaguars picked up the conference win over Mississippi Valley State to help reach the tournament in their first year of competition since adding men's tennis back.
Alabama A&M, is the No. 2 seeded team in the tournament, also received a bye in the quarterfinals and will meet the winner of No. 3 Jackson State/No. 5 Prairie View when semifinal play begins on Saturday, April 20. 
 
The SWAC Men's Tennis Tournament championship match is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 21 from the City Park Tennis Center.
