Southern Unveils 2024 Baseball Schedule

BATON ROUGE, La. | Southern University head baseball coach Chris Crenshaw announced on Wednesday the 2024 schedule, which features 26 home games at Lee-Hines Stadium, including a non-conference series against Alabama State and a single games against Southland champion Nicholls State, McNeese State, Incarnate Word and New Orleans.  
 
"I'm excited and I know our team is excited about this year's schedule," said Crenshaw. "The non-conference slate is extremely challenging, but it will get us ready for conference play and we are excited for the chance to compete.

Southern, who went 23-28 overall and 17-10 mark in conference play, will open the season against familiar conference foes at Minute Maid Park for the 2024 Cactus Jack HBCU Classic Feb. 16-18. The Jaguars will take on Alcorn State (Feb. 16), Grambling State (Feb. 17) and Texas Southern (Feb.18).
 
The Jaguars then travel to Vero Beach, Fla. Feb 23-25 for their 16th appearance in the Andre Dawson Classic where the Jaguars face Alabama State (Feb. 23), North Carolina A&T (Feb. 24) and Florida A&M (Feb. 25). 

Southern host Dillard on Tuesday, Feb. 27 for their home opener. The Jags then travel to Nicholls State (Mar. 1-2) as they Colonels return to Baton Rouge (Mar. 3), which begins a stretch of nine straight home games at Lee-Hines Stadium. Southern plays host to SUNO (Mar. 5), three-game series vs Alabama State (Mar. 8-10), McNeese State (Mar. 12), and opens SWAC play against Texas Southern (Mar. 15-17).
 
Following its home stand, the Jaguars return to the road for five straight games. As they travel to University of Louisiana on (Mar. 19), followed by three games at Alcorn State (Mar. 22-24) and wraps up the road swing at UNO on (Mar. 26).
 
The Jaguars return home for three games against Prairie View (Mar. 28-30), before visiting defending National Champion LSU on (Apr. 1).
 
The Blue and Gold play host to Arkansas Pine Bluff (Apr. 5-7), Dillard on (Apr. 9) and Incarnate Word (Apr. 10). 
 
SU returns to the road for ten-game road stand as they take on Grambling State (Apr. 12-14), Houston (Apr. 17), Texas Southern (Apr. 19-21) and Prairie View (Apr. 26-28). 
The Jaguars return home for four games, starting (Apr. 30) vs Nicholls State and Alcorn State (May 3-5).  
 
Southern takes to the road one final time with four straight games, visiting McNeese State (May 7) and Arkansas Pine Bluff (May 10- 12). 
 
Concluding the last midweek matchup vs UNO (May 14) and the regular season at home against Grambling State (May 16-18).
 
The 2024 SWAC Baseball Tournament begins May 22 in Atlanta, Ga.
