Jaguars Clinch Series At Alcorn After Going 1-1 On The Day

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • SU picked up right back where they left off from Saturday securing the series by knocking off the Braves 5-2 in game two.
  • ASU scored in the first inning but wasn't able to recover dropping game two and the series to the Jaguars.
  • Lasseigne pitched two innings seeing 9 batters only giving up two hits. 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Southern finished the night with four hits and ASU finished the night with eight hits.
  • Southern finished the game with three errors, while Alcorn State finished the game with two errors.
  • Southern left nine runners on base, while ASU left seven.
  • Southern struck out two times and Alcorn State struck six times.
  • Jah'li Hendricks picked up the Jags first run of the day off an error from Alcorn State short stop sending Gustavo Nava Sanchez to first base. Jaylen Armstrong, O'Neill Burgos, Hunter Tabb, KJ White and Hendricks scored one run each. 
  • Three different Jaguars batters recorded a hit. Burgos led the Jags with two hits, while Nava Sanchez and Tabb finish the day with one hit each.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Despite having a 6 run inning the Jags wasn't able to hold on to get the sweep over Alcorn dropping game three 9-8.
  • ASU scored in five out the seven innings to knock off the Jags in game three.
  • Burkett II pitched two innings seeing 5 batters giving up one hit and two runs on the day.

The Jaguars will be back in action this weekend for a three-game series against University of Arkansas Pine-Bluff Thursday, May 18th at 6PM, Friday, May 19th at 6PM and on Saturday, May 20th st 3 PM. All three games will be streamed live on Jaguar Sports Network with the voice of Jaguar Athletics "Chris Powers".
