Jailyn Rogers and Alanna Coward Earn All-SWAC Honors, Doyle Named Coach of the Year

BIRMINGHAM, AL- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has announced its 2022-23 SWAC Bowling Postseason Honors highlighted by impressive performances during regular season competition.
 
Jailyn Rogers earned first team honors with the second highest average and Alanna Coward earned second team honors.

Southern head coach Barry Doyle was named SWAC Coach of the Year after leading the Lady Jaguars to a regular season title with an impressive 20-8 overall record in league play.

The all-conference honors and individual award winners were determined by average individual pinfall during conference play.
 
Rogers finished the first SWAC Round Up with a 2,913 pinfall for a 208.07 average through the first 14 games of competition. In the second SWAC Round Up, Rogers continued to impress with a 2,486 total for 13 games, a 191.2 average. Overall, she finished with a 5,399 for 27 games, giving her a 199.96 average in conference play. For the season, Rogers has a 194.5 average in 51 games and finished in the top 25 in five of the seven events this season.
 
Coward shot a 2,669 for 13 games in the first round up for a 205.3 average. She would follow that with 2,375 in 13 games in the second round up, giving her a 182.7 average. Combined, Coward would finish sixth in the conference with a 194.92 average, 5,004 pinfall in 26 games. On the season, Coward has a 185.8 average in 40 games and has finished in the top 25 in three of the six events she has bowled.
 
Alabama State's Savanna Razor claimed SWAC Bowler of the Year while Prairie View A&M's Jayda Gordon took home SWAC Freshman of the Year accolades. 
 
The 2023 SWAC Bowling Championship is set for March 24-26 at the ITRC in Arlington, Texas.
