RUSTON, LA – Southern University's track and field teams are set to open the outdoor portion of their schedule at the Jim Mize Invitational from March 17-18 at the Jim Mize Track and Field Complex on the campus of Louisiana Tech.
Southern is coming off an impressive indoor season that saw the men's team finish sixth and the women's fourth at the Southwestern Athletic Conference Indoor Championships.
Three Southern athletes claimed indoor titles,
Jordan Thompson in the 60m hurdles,
Nicholas Scott in the 800m and
Trinity Bolden in the 60m.
Events kickoff on Friday with the women's hammer throw and men's discus at 3 p.m. The men's hammer and women's discus will follow.
The running events set for the opening day are the 200m and 5000 on the men's and women's side. The women's 200m is set to start at 6:30 with the others to follow.
Saturday starts at 10 a.m. with the men's javelin and women's shot put. Running events are set for noon with the women's 4x100.
