Lady Techsters Classic to Challenge Lady Jaguars

DALLAS A week after claiming the Southwestern Athletic Conference regular season championship, the Southern University's bowling team returns to the lanes for the Lady Techsters Classic at USA Bowl in Dallas hosted by Louisiana Tech.
 
The Lady Jaguars are coming off a 10-4 record at the SWAC Round-Up II in D'Iberville, Mississippi, giving them a SWAC record of 20-4. Before the tournament, they had moved into the top 50 in the RPI and had the 34th best winning percentage in the country. They also hold the 27th best scoring average at 181.8, which is tops in the SWAC.
 
"After an exciting weekend and a few days rest, we are back on the road," head coach Barry Doyle said. "The field is loaded with stiff competition. The pattern will not be as difficult as we say in the SWAC Round-Up and the scoring will definitely be higher. The girls should perform well with a lot of confidence. We are looking forward to continuing our top-25 hunt and hopefully add a few more teams to our resume."
 
Southern is led by Jailyn Rogers with a 196.2 average on the season. Senior Alanna Coward has seen her average increase from a 169 her freshman year to a 185.8 this season. Kelsey Quinney is also having a fantastic year, averaging 182.38 and has two top-25 finishes. Nyla Wilson has a 175 avg., followed by Raja Anderson at 174.8, Kymberly Jackson at 172 and Lindsey Ugas at 166.78.
 
The Lady Techsters Classic will begin on February 10 with five five-game Baker matches. The Lady Jaguars will take on Adelphi, No. 3 Vanderbilt, No. 9 Louisiana Tech, Grambling and No. 17 Tulane.
 
Saturday will continue with Baker games for the first two games and then will switch to the traditional 5-person games. The Lady Jaguars take on No. 8 Sam Houston and St. Anselm before starting the rematch portion of the schedule. The final three games will be against Adelphi, Vanderbilt and Louisiana Tech.
 
The final day of the tournament will be four traditional games against Grambling, Tulane, Sam Houston and St. Anselm. The final game will be a position round and be best 4-out-of-7 Baker game.
