BIRMINGHAM, AL – The Southern University's track and field teams are set to participate in the Southwestern Athletic Conference Indoor Championships from February 16-17 at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama.
The Jaguars and Lady Jaguars will be in a familiar setting when they start competition, they participated in the Samford Invite and Samford Open in the same building back on January 20 and 21.
Thursday's action starts at 8:30 a.m. with the women's pentathlon, track events will start at noon with the women's 3000m and will then be followed by the men's 3000m and the prelims of all the running events. The field events taking place on Thursday include the women's weight throw, men's and women's long jump, men's pole vault, men's shot put and men's high jump, all field events will have the trials and finals on the same day.
Friday's action will start at 8:30 a.m. with the conclusion of the men's heptathlon. Field events will start at 10 a.m. and the running finals start at noon.
The Jaguars are going into the meet having 13 athletes inside the top-10 in the SWAC standings this season, one holds the top mark. The Lady Jaguars have 14 in the top-10, also having one with the top mark.
The Jaguars are led by their top mark in
Jordan Thompson in the 60m hurdles. Five of Thompson's six times this season would have placed him first, his time of 7.92 at the LSU Purple Tiger is his season best.

Nervis finds himself in the top-10 in both the 60m, sixth, and 200m, eighth. Scott held the top mark in the 800m before February and currently sits in fourth. Thompson and Bush are third and 10th in the Long Jump. Hamilton and Sowell sit second and 10th in the triple jump. Villery and Wilson are fifth and sixth in the shot put, while Wilson also sits third in the weight throw. The 4x400 team of

Rushane Miller and
Clydeterrious Thompson hold down fifth place.
The Lady Jaguars are led by
Trinity Bolden who holds the top mark in the 60m. Bolden's has a season best of 7.41, just 0.01 behind her personal best. Three of her marks would place her in the top position in the conference.

Camille Lewis currently has a time of 2:18.82 in the 800m for an eighth-place spot and is second in the high jump. McKissic is the third Lady Jaguar to hold a top-10 mark on the track events, sitting fifth in the 60m hurdles. Lathon sits fourth in the high jump at 5 feet 3 inches. Foster sits in 10thg in the high jump, while Gibbs and Bass sit sixth and ninth in the triple jump. The throws have Hart in fifth in the shot put and second in the weight throw.
Logan Lewis is in sixth for the shot put and seventh in the weight throw, while Gore sits fourth in the weight throw. The 4x400 team of
Shani Simon,
Trinity Kirk,
Malaysia Sinegal and
Camille Lewis sit in sixth.
