The Jaguars picked up seven runs off 9 hits on the day. In the first inning Hunter Tabb singled to right-center field sending JJ Rollon across home plate giving SU a 1-0 lead at the end of the first inning. In tge fifth inning  O'Neill Burgos hits a double to left field advancing Rollon to third base and Jovante Dorris races across home plate to give the Jags their second run of the day. Taj Porter hits a sacrifice fly sending Burgos to third base and Rollon across home plate to give SU a 3-2 lead with one out in the inning. To close out the bottom of the fifth inning Burgos and Porter scores to give the Jags a 6-2 lead. In the bottom of the eighth inning Jovante Dorris cracked a home run over the left field wall on a 2-0 pitch to picup the jags final run of the day.

"I'm proud of how we competed today! It was a back and forth battle but that's what you should expect from a SU and JSU game.  We have to turn the page now and get ready for tomorrow," said Chris Crenshaw, Southern Head Coach.

Anthony Fidanza picks up his first win of the season. The Jaguars scoring came from Dorris and Rollon with two runs each. Burgos, Porter and Tabb finishes with one run each. 

SU is 2-0 on the season.

Southern will close out the Andre Dawson Classic on Sunday, February 20th at Maestri Field on the Campus of University of New Orleans as they face-off with Florida A&M.  First pitch is slated for 11 AM.
