HOUSTON – The Southern University Lady Jaguars continue their fall slate this week at the Track Kat Klash hosted by Sam Houston from Friday to Sunday.
The field of 20 has 11 ranked teams, with half of the top 10. Defending national champions, No. 1 McKendree leads the pack. Other ranked teams include No. 3 Nebraska, No. 5 Sam Houston, No. 7 North Carolina A&T, No. 8 Louisiana Tech, No. 14 Maryland Eastern Shore, No. 15 Maryville, No. 17 Tulane, No. 24 Lincoln Memorial, No. 20 Lewis and No. 21 Central Missouri. The eight unranked teams include Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Delaware State, Monmouth, Prairie View A&M, Texas Southern, UAB and Upper Iowa.
The Lady Jaguars have been off since the Colonial Lanes Classic that finished on October 16. Finishing strong on the final day, the Lady Jaguars continued to work on improving their game in the two weeks since.
Senior
Alanna Coward led Southern during the traditional portion of the tournament, averaging 187 for five games.
Jailyn Rogers was second in average with a 174.5 for four games.
Friday will consist of five-five game Baker matches with total pins determining the winner. Saturday will see the five traditional games with total pins to determine the winner. The final day will see the teams seeded based on total pins and then participate in three best 4-of-7 Baker matches.
