MONTGOMERY, AL – Coming off an impressive showing two weeks ago, the Southern University Lady Jaguar bowling team is heading to Montgomery, Alabama for the ISTAP Hornet Classic at Bowlero and hosted by Alabama State University.

"We are looking forward to this tournament before the break," Barry Doyle said, bowling head coach. "Coming off a strong performance at the Kat Klash, we are ready to carry that jolt of confidence over and continue to get better."
 
The Lady Jaguars are closing out their fall portion of their schedule when things kickoff Friday morning with five-five game Baker matches, total pinfall will determine the winner of each match. Saturday will return to the five-five-man traditional team matches. After the Friday and Saturday matches, teams will be seeded based on total pinfall and will compete in three best 4-of-7 Baker matches to determine the final standings.
 
Last time out, Southern proved to themselves and the rest of the country that they can compete with anyone. Only two of their matches at the Track Kat Klash were against unranked teams, the other 11 came against some of the best teams in the nation. The Lady Jaguars came away with four ranked wins and finished 11th out of 20 teams, finishing ahead of three ranked teams.
 
Jailyn Rogers was named SWAC Bowler of the Week after finishing 12th out of 125 bowlers with a 1,060 pinfall, 212 average. Three other Lady Jaguars finished in the top half, Kelsey Quinney (54th, 893, 178.6 avg.), Raja Anderson (59th, 884, 176.8 avg.) and Jayden Hauck (63rd, 871, 174.2 avg.).

"This is also a tune-up against some conference opponents," Doyle continued. "This is our last tournament before we start conference play in January."
 
The SWAC will have a majority of the teams in this weekend's tournament. Alabama State University will be hosting Alabama A&M University, Florida A&M University, Jackson State University, Grambling State University, Tusculum and the University of Alabama Birmingham.
