TUSCALOOSA, Ala.– In a packed field the men finished 13th, while the women finished 19th at the Friday morning at the University of Alabama Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa, Alabama at the Harry Pritchett Running Course.
The Jaguars used the 8k course to prepare themselves for the Southwestern Athletic Conference meet in 10 days.
Nicholas Scott led the way for Southern finishing with a time of 27:20.7, just 20 seconds behind his personal best.
Lafayette Collins was the second Jaguar runner to cross the finish line at 28:19.2. Ta'Cardrick Alexander beat his personal best by a minute and half with a time of 29:42.1. Christian Phillips was not far behind at 29:56.8 for his first 8k. Bryce Moore and Christopher Huges were the other Jaguars to compete. They finished at 30:55.7 and 31:50.8, respectively.
The Lady Jaguars ran the 6k in hopes of finding their strides for the SWAC championships. Camille Lewis continues to have an impressive season for the Lady Jaguars with a time of 23:36.1. Trinity Kirk is continuing to improve her long-distance running, finishing with a time of 26:09.4.
Shani Simon and Sierra Sessions were the other two Lady Jaguars to finish under the 30-minute mark. Simon finished with a time of 28:06.3, just a tenth of a second ahead of Session at 28:06.3.
Kashi Roberts and
Destiny Mitchell rounded out the runners for Southern. Roberts crossed the line at 30:22.9 and Mitchell finished at 30:36.8.
Next Up
The SWAC Championship is set to begin on Monday, October 24.
