MADISON, AL. -- The Jaguars bats came alive on day three of the 2021 Southwestern Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament Friday afternoon and evening at Toyota Field in Madison, Alabama as Southern dominated Prairie View A&M 24-3 in the semifinals.
Freshman
Christian Davis (1-4) allowed two first-inning runs, but settled in and took a one-hitter into the sixth inning. Davis used 82 pitches to throw a complete-game, giving up three hits. He walked two batters and had seven strikeouts.
Southern (18-28) scored 24 runs on 21 hits with no errors. The runs were the most Southern has scored since March 30, 2019, when it defeated Prairie View 26-4 in Baton Rouge. During the 2020 season Southern also handed the Panthers a 20-0 loss at Prairie View before the season was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic

The Jaguars got on the board in the second inning.
Taj Porter singled up the middle. Followed by
Tremaine Spears two-run homerun over the center field wall tying up the game 2-2.
AJ Walter singled to center field to get on base as
Isaiah Adams crushed a two-run homerun over the left field wall as the Jaguars took the 4-2 lead.
Southern added four runs in the top of the third. It started with an RBI single down the left field line by
Tremaine Spears extending the lead to 6-2 and
AJ Walter RBI double to right field, making it 8-2.
SU extended its lead in the top of the fourth by adding six runs.
Colton Frank RBI single through the right side scored Burgos.
Zavier Moore RBI single to right center scored Porter.
AJ Walter RBI single back to the pitcher but he bobbled it as Frank scored.
Isaiah Adams RBI double to left center scored Moore.
Jovante Dorris two run RBI singled to right center scored Adams and Walter as the Jags extended their lead 14-2.
The Jaguars scored three runs in the fifth, five in the sixth and two in the seventh as they defeated the Panthers 24-3.
All nine Jaguars starters had at least one hit, as six of them had RBIs. Left fielder
AJ Walter led the way as he finished 5-for-6 that included two doubles and four RBIs.
Zavier Moore and Isaiah Adams each had three hits and four RBIs.
UP NEXT
Southern will face Prairie View A&M on Saturday at 3:00pm from Toyota Field in Madison, Alabama for a spot in the championship game.
