STILLWATER, OK-- Southern University women's basketball team got all they cam handle from Oklahoma State on Wednesday evening in front of 1,848 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena on the campus of Oklahoma State University. Final score was 75-33.
SU took a 13-9 lead at the end of the first quarter but OSU took control of the game in the second quarter out scoring the Lady Jags 15-2 and never looked back closing out the game on 31-to-9 run.
Senior guard
Kayla Watson and freshman guard Aleighyah Fontenot lead the Lady Jaguars with six points each. Senior guard Amani Mcwain chipped in five points and three rebounds in her first action of the season.
The Lady Jaguars defense forced the Lady Cowgirls to 18 turnovers, picking up nine points off turnovers. SU played all fifteen players with only eight landing in the scoring column. Southern shot 27 percent for the game (14-51) and 15 percent from behind the arc (2-13). SU shot 37 percent from the charity stripe finishing (3-8)
Oklahoma State finished the night with four players in double-digits led by Lauren Fields with 18 points in a game-high thirty-two minutes of play. Taylen Collins finished the night with 15 points and a game-high eight rebounds. Ruthie Udoumoh added 13 points and three boards. Neferatali Notoa chipped in 11 points, shooting 3-of-5 from behind the arc.
UP NEXT
Southern will close out non-conferencde play on the road at Missouri State (Dec. 18th) and University of Missouri (Dec. 20th). Tipoff is slated for 2 PM on ESPN3 at Missouri State and 7 PM at University of Missouri.
