Southern Falls to Missouri State 72-43

SPRINGFIELD, MO -- Southern University women's basketball team got off to a slow start and was never able to recover falling to Missouri State 72-43 in front of 2.,047 fans inside JQH Arena on the campus of Missouri State University.

Despite going back and forth the first few minutes of the game wasn't good enough for the Lady Jaguars dropping their third game in a row.

"We came out in a zone defense and I thought that kept them out of sync early. The problem was we didn't score many baskets on the offensive end. In the third and fourth quarters we played some man-to-man full-court pressure  defenses was able to create some transition baskets, said Carlos Funchess, SU Head Coach. The kids played hard we just need to find a way to generate some points in our half court offense. We will regroup and get ready for Missouri on Monday as we finish up non conference schedule."

In her second game back this season, Amani Mcwain led the Lady Jaguars in scoring with 11 points, three rebounds, one assist, and two steals. Freshman center Tionna Lidge chipped in six points along with a team-high four rebounds in twelve moinutes of play. Senior guard Nakia Kincey finished the day with five points, three rebound and three assists.
