IOWA CITY, IA-- The Southern Jaguars women's basketball team could not recover from the 18 point deficit in the first half dropping their third game in a row to Iowa 87-67 inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena on the campus of University of Iowa.
Despite forcing 18 turnovers and picking up 11 steals from the Lady Hawkeyes, the Lady Jaguars was not able to come back from the 18-point deficit they faced at halftime.
Junior guard
Genovea Johnson shot fifty percent from the field leading all-scorers with 19 points in twenty-three minutes of play. Kayla Watson finished the night with 12 points and Nakia Kincey chipped in 10 points and three rebounds. Sophomore forward Zaria Harleaux finshed the night with a team-high six rebounds.
The Lady Jaguars defense forced the Lady Hawkeyes to 18 turnovers, picking up 23 points off turnovers. SU played twelve players with ten landing in the scoring column. Southern shot 35 percent for the game (25-71) and 23 percent from behind the arc (6-26). SU shot 69 percent from the charity stripe finishing (11-16)
Caitlin Clark and Monika Czinano led the Lady Hawkeyes with 16 point each. McKenna Warnock finished the night with 15 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
UP NEXT
Southern will be back in action on Sunday, November 21st inside the Hilton Coliseum on the campus of Iowa State University. The game is slated for a Noon tipoff.
