BATON ROUGE - The Southern University Track and Field team will compete on April 20 at Louisiana State University in the LSU Alumni Gold meet. This will be the final meet before the Southwestern Atheltic Conference Championships.  

“We just expect them to really move forward right now,” said head coach Teremine White. 

"We've been training them really hard and we're just about to start taking off the weight room and tone back the training." 

 Terralicia Mercadel still holds top ten positions in three events. Mercadel looks to take the lead in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, and 400-meter dash. Mercadel is tied at sixth with her teammate Nia Williams in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.96. Mercadel sits fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.55. Mercadel is second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.37. 

After winning her third 800-meter run of the season last weekend, Raelynn Price looks to increase her position on the Southwestern Athletic Conference list. Price is sixth right now with a time of 2:16.71. 

On the men's side, Jeremy Bass will continue climbing the SWAC performance list this weekend. Bass sits first in the Hammer throw with a throw of 51.59 (169'3"), Second in the Shot put with a throw of 15.22 meters (49' 11.25"), and sixth in the Discus throw with a throw of 41.79 meters (137' 1"). 

Artis McCoy looks to improve on the performance list in the 200-meter dash and 400-meter. McCoy is fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time 47.56. McCoy is tied for seventh in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.58. 

The first field event is scheduled to start at 9 am with the women's discus. There will a section A and B for this meet. Section B will be held in the morning and section A will be held in the afternoon.
