Roman Smith and
Keith Fowler swept weekly honors from the Southwestern Athletic Conference following standout performances at the Louisiana Classic on Saturday.

Smith earned Co-Field Athlete of the Week after opening his 2026 season with a first-place finish in the high jump, clearing 2.14 meters (7'0.25"). The returning NCAA qualifier and reigning SWAC indoor champion picked up right where he left off, delivering a winning mark that currently ranks 12th nationally and ninth in the East Region, placing him firmly in early regional qualifying position.

Fowler, a freshman, was named Newcomer of the Week after placing fourth in the same event with a clearance of 2.05 meters (6'8.75"). His mark ranks 30th in the nation and 20th in the East Region. Among freshmen, Fowler sits sixth nationally and fourth in the region, while also ranking second in the SWAC behind Smith. The honor marks Fowler's second Newcomer of the Week award after earning his first in his collegiate debut.
