Pine Bluff, Ark. -- Southern University guard Britney Washington scored a game high 21 points and forward Cortnei Purnell recorded a double-double as the Jaguars routed Arkansas-Pine Bluff 78-61 Saturday night.

Washington scored 15 of her 21 points in the second half after only scoring six points at intermission with Southern leading 33-23. She made 6 of 11 field goals as the Jaguars coasted to their fourth straight Southwestern Athletic Conference win.

Purnell added 17 points on 8 for 11 shooting with 10 rebounds, including seven defensive rebounds. Ashley Williams had nine points and four rebounds in her fourth game since being inserted into the starting lineup along with Kenidi Robinson.

After Jadea Brundidge's layup with 1:05 in the first quarter gave SU a 14-12 lead, the Jaguars never trailed over the final 21:05. UAPB pulled within three early in the third but Skylar O'Bear's 3-pointer ignited a 13-3 run that pushed the Jaguars lead to 49-39.

As a team, SU shot 51 percent from the field and outrebounded UAPB 36-26. Despite shooting only two free throws in the first half, the Jaguars went 11 for 18 in the second half to finish at 60 percent.

UAPB's Niya Head lead the Golden Lions with 13 points off the bench while Ajia Richardson added 11.

SU will look to extend its win streak to five when the Jaguars meet Mississippi Valley at the Leflore County Civic Center in Greenwood, Miss. on Monday night. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
