SWAC Announces 2024 ESPN Football Schedule, Southern To Be Featured on ESPN Platform Five Times

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Southwestern Athletic Conference announced its 2024 SWAC Football schedule on ESPN highlighted by several highly anticipated games on ESPN's linear and digital platforms, and Southern will be on the ESPN Family of Networks five different times throughout the season and once on NBC.

"I am very excited for our student-athletes, fans, supporters and alumni that we will be featured on ESPN five times this fall and once on NBC," said SU Director of Athletics, Roman Banks. "This allows Southern University brand to be showcased across the country."

SU opens the 2024 season traveling down I-10 against McNeese State on Aug. 31 at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN+. The Jaguars will host Savannah State for the home-opener on Sept. 7 at 6:00 pm for the 7th annual Pete Richardson Classic, tv broadcast is tba. Southern will then travel to Jackson State for a week 3 non-conference match up at 1:00 pm on ESPN+.

The Jaguars open conference play in week 4 when they travel to face Prairie View A&M Sept. 21 at 6:00 pm on ESPN+.

Southern returns home to host Nicholls State on October 5 for a 6:00 pm kickoff on the Jaguar Sports Network.

Due to ESPN Network picking up the Jaguars homecoming match up with Alcorn State on Oct. 19, kickoff has been pushed back to 6:00 p.m. The Jaguars will travel to Florida A&M on Oct. 26 for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.

Southern will return to the friendly confines of A.W. Mumford Stadium and Pete Richardson Field for back-to-back home games against Bethune-Cookman on Nov. 9 at 2:00 p.m. on Jaguar Sports Network and host University of Arkansas - Pine Bluff on Nov. 16 at 2:00 p.m. on Jaguar Sports Network.
