Coach Adrian Sanders is entering her third year as assistant coach/recruiting coordinator under head coach Carlos Funchess. In her first season on the Southern sideline she helped guide the Lady Jags to the 2018-19 SWAC Regular Season Championship, 2019 SWAC Tournament Championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance finishing the season 20-13 (14-4).

Prior to Sanders arrival at Southern she spent one-year at Miles College in Fairfield, Alabama. During her one season at Miles, the Lady Bears program finished with a 14-13 record and compiled a 9-6 record in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Miles scoring averaged increased from 62.4 points per game during the 2015-16 season to 65.5 points per game average in 2016-17.

Sanders spent the 2016-17 season at Southeastern Louisiana University, where she served as a volunteer Video Coordinator. Prior to her stint with the Lady Lions, Sanders spent two seasons (2014-16) as a graduate assistant coach at Southern University. Sanders specialized in scouting and recruiting but she was also involved in on-court instruction and the day-to-day functions of the Lady Jaguars program, which went 38-23 during her two seasons with two appearances in the Southwestern Athletic Conference championship game and one appearance in the Women's National Invitational Tournament. She also has coaching experience in middle school, high school, AAU, and the Women’s Blue Chip Basketball League.

As a player, Sanders lettered for four seasons and was a four-year starter at Southern, where she scored more than 950 points, grabbed more than 380 rebounds, dished out more than 230 assists and collected 125 steals. After her collegiate career ended, she served as a player/coach for the Louisiana Bayou Angels in the Women's Blue Chip Basketball League, where her team won regional titles in 2016 and 2017.

Sanders is a native of Jackson, Tenn. and played her prep ball at Ridgeway High in Memphis, Tennessee. She is a 2014 graduate of Southern, where she earned her degree in Business Marketing. She is also a member of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.
