DALLAS, Texas – Southern University Athletics proudly participated in the 2026 Southern University Alumni Federation (SUAF) Conference, strengthening relationships with alumni from across the country while highlighting the department's vision, momentum, and exciting initiatives for the upcoming year.
The Athletics team had the opportunity to engage with alumni during the SUAF Alumni Fundraiser, where attendees learned more about the continued growth of Jaguar Athletics and the importance of alumni support in enhancing the student-athlete experience.
The following morning, Athletics presented during the conference's general session, providing updates on key initiatives, departmental accomplishments, and upcoming opportunities for alumni to reconnect with the Bluff. Those on the panel consisted of Athletic Director Roman Banks, Ajohnee Rodney (Chief of Staff and Associate Athletics Director for Administration), and Taylor De Bourg (Assistant Director of Marketing & Development), Jeremy Fotenot (Head Soccer Coach), Carlos Funchess (Head Women's Basketball Coach), Kevin Johnson (Head Men's Basketball Coach), and Marshall Faulk (Head Football Coach).
The presentation highlighted several signature events, including the Southern University Athletics Gala, Southern Girls Golf Tournament, Fan Fest, Southern Luxe Rowe, and the Alumni Challenge, while also encouraging alumni chapters to continue supporting Jaguar Athletics through attendance, fundraising, and engagement.
"Our alumni are some of our greatest ambassadors," said Chief of Staff and Associate Athletics Director for Administration Ajohnee Rodney. "The SUAF Conference provided a wonderful opportunity to share where our department is headed, celebrate the progress we've made, and invite alumni to be active partners in the future of Southern Athletics."
Athletics also encouraged alumni chapters to connect with individual sport programs to coordinate support for Southern teams competing in the Dallas area throughout the year.
Southern University Athletics extends its sincere appreciation to the Southern University Alumni Federation, the Dallas Alumni Chapter, and conference leadership for their outstanding hospitality and for creating another successful conference that brought Jaguars together from across the country.
As the department prepares for an exciting 2026–27 athletic season, Southern University Athletics remains committed to strengthening relationships with alumni, engaging the community, and creating championship experiences for student-athletes on and off the field.
