LORMAN, MS— Southern erupted for six runs in the first inning and never looked back Saturday afternoon, powering past Alcorn State 17-5 in Game 2 to clinch the Southwestern Athletic Conference weekend series.
The Jaguars piled up 16 hits and drew 13 walks in a dominant offensive showing, building an early cushion and adding insurance late to secure the run-rule–threatening victory.
Southern set the tone immediately in the opening frame, capitalizing on miscues and timely hitting to plate six runs despite recording just two hits in the inning. The Jaguars added another run in the second and continued to apply pressure throughout, leading 11-2 by the fifth inning.
KJ White Jr. led the offensive surge, going 4-for-7 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Kameron Byrd added three hits and two RBIs, while Ryan Hunter drove in a game-high three runs. Jacoby Radcliffe and Kenyon Hughes each contributed two RBIs as Southern's lineup produced from top to bottom.
Jaylon Lucky provided a spark without recording a hit, scoring three times and drawing six walks as part of Southern's disciplined approach at the plate.
On the mound, Myles Dismute (4-0) delivered a steady performance, working seven innings while allowing five runs — four earned — on nine hits with seven strikeouts. Jayden Lawrence closed the door with two scoreless innings, striking out three.
Southern broke the game open again in the ninth, scoring four runs behind a string of extra-base hits, including triples from Beny Bikar Jr. and Hunter.
