Southern Unleash Offensive Avalanche in 18-0 Rout of Xavier

BATON ROUGE, La. — Southern University delivered a statement performance Tuesday night, overwhelming Xavier (La.) in an 18-0 shutout victory at Lee-Hines Stadium behind an explosive middle-inning surge and dominant pitching.

Southern broke the game open in the second inning when Ryan Hunter laced a two-RBI double to give the Jaguars a 2-0 lead. That was just the beginning.

The third inning turned into an offensive avalanche. Southern sent waves of hitters to the plate, capitalizing on walks, hit-by-pitches, and timely hitting to score nine runs on just four hits, showcasing patience and relentless pressure.

By the time the dust settled, Southern had built an 11-0 lead—and they weren't done. Meanwhile, the pitching staff was nearly flawless. Southern held Xavier to just 3 hits and struck out 9 batters, never allowing a serious scoring threat.
