BATON ROUGE, LA -- In a weekend that tested grit, resilience, and belief, Southern University baseball delivered a statement series win over Prairie View A&M—capped by a dramatic 9-8 comeback victory on Sunday inside Lee Hines Stadium.
Trailing 7-2 in the sixth inning, Southern chipped away before breaking through with a decisive stretch over the final three innings. Luis Ayala drove in a run in the sixth to start the comeback, but the turning point came in the seventh. Brant Stewart delivered a three-run home run to cut the deficit to one, and Kenyon Hughes followed with a game-tying RBI single as the Jaguars evened the score at 7-7.
Stewart led the Jaguars with three RBIs, whileAyala added two hits and an RBI. Hunter scored twice, and Kameron Byrd drove in the eventual game-winning run. Jacoby Radcliffe reached base three times via walks and scored twice.
Southern's pitching staff steadied late after allowing seven runs through six innings, limiting Prairie View to one run the rest of the way. Southern finished with 9 runs on 11 hits, overcoming Prairie View's 12-hit effort.
The victory secured the series for Southern, which opened the weekend with a 9-1 win before dropping the middle game 6-3.

Southern's biggest swing came from Brant Stewart's 3-run homer that flipped the momentum instantly. That one swing erased a five-run deficit and energized the dugout.
