Prior to Southern University, Quincy Thornton attended the University of Tennessee at Martin, where he was named MEC Conference Pitcher of the Week and participated in the JUCO World Series. A Morgantown High School product, he earned First Team All-Region, All-Conference, and All-State honors.

Born on April 18 in Morgantown, West Virginia, he is majoring in Criminal Justice and is the son of Sondra, a West Virginia University volleyball alumna, and Tony Thornton, a Fairmont State University baseball alumnus, with siblings Eliana and Lincoln.
