LAFAYETTE, La. — The Southern University track and field team turned in a strong showing at the Louisiana Classic, highlighted by multiple podium finishes and top-eight performances across both track and field events.

On the track, Southern was led by standout efforts in the middle-distance events.
Marcus Delcy captured a first-place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 1:53.96, while freshman
Keeton Johnson followed with an impressive third-place finish at 1:54.87. In the hurdles, Christon Washington delivered a pair of strong performances, placing third in the 110-meter hurdles (14.29) and adding another third-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (55.48).

The women's side saw solid sprint and hurdle performances, as
Taylor Hankton claimed third in the 100-meter hurdles (14.40), while
Demetria Harris secured an eighth-place finish (14.83). Rondisa Williams added points in the 100 meters with a sixth-place finish (11.64). In the 400 meters,
T'La Dewitt led the way with a third-place finish in 55.99.

In relay action, Southern continued its success with the men's 4x400-meter relay team placing third (3:18.97), while the women's 4x400-meter relay finished fourth (3:49.54). The men's 4x100-meter relay added a fifth-place finish (41.13), and the women's 4x100-meter relay placed sixth (47.63).

In the field events, Southern dominated several competitions.
Roman Smith won the high jump with a clearance of 2.14m (7-00.25), while freshman
Keith Fowler finished fourth (2.05m).
Sahnya Lathon had an outstanding meet, placing fourth in the high jump (1.62m) and capturing first place in the triple jump (11.98m).

The Jaguars also saw success in the throws.
Michael Fulton placed second in the hammer throw with a mark of 52.64m and added a sixth-place finish in the shot put (15.88m). Ayanna Hunt contributed a fifth-place finish in the hammer throw (50.53m), while
Layla Spann-McDonald secured eighth (47.56m).

In the horizontal jumps,
Reginald King (5th, 6.95m) and
Koi Wedderburn (6th, 6.88m) both earned top-eight finishes in the long jump, while
Azariah Foster placed fifth on the women's side (5.63m).
Everett Alberty added a sixth-place finish in the javelin (57.98m), and
Kinzli Zenon placed eighth (38.37m).
